ICNT stands for "Intercontinental Network Testbed." It is a collaborative initiative aimed at creating a global testbed infrastructure to support research and experimentation in advanced networking technologies and applications across continents. The ICNT project brings together academic institutions, research organizations, industry partners, and government agencies from around the world to develop, deploy, and evaluate innovative networking solutions that address the challenges of future internet architectures, protocols, and services. The testbed infrastructure encompasses a diverse range of networking resources, including high-speed optical networks, programmable network devices, software-defined networking (SDN) platforms, cloud computing resources, and distributed computing facilities, interconnected via high-capacity transcontinental links. Researchers and experimenters can access the ICNT testbed to conduct experiments, simulations, and demonstrations of emerging networking technologies and applications, such as ultra-low latency communication, massive-scale data transfer, network virtualization, Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity, and multimedia content delivery. By providing a collaborative platform for testing and validating new networking concepts and prototypes in real-world environments, the ICNT project accelerates innovation and fosters collaboration among researchers and industry stakeholders, driving the development of next-generation internet technologies and standards. The ICNT testbed also serves as a valuable resource for education and training in networking and telecommunications, offering students and professionals hands-on experience with cutting-edge networking technologies and practical skills in network design, deployment, and management. As global connectivity continues to expand and evolve, the ICNT project plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of networking and advancing the state-of-the-art in intercontinental communication and collaboration.
